Sometimes owning a swimming pool feels a bit like running a science experiment in your own backyard... Choosing The Right Parts

Not all spare and replacement parts are equal. Using only authentic, original Insnrgy parts, will ensure your equipment is running as it's supposed to, while protecting your equipment and your warranties. Using inferior, aftermarket parts can prove much more expensive in the long run.

Your Regular Maintenance Schedule

No we don't have a crystal ball and yes every pool is different, from usage to environmental factors. So this is a quick overview of what to maintain and when, based on the average pool. As a new pool owner we recommend monitoring and action more often, rather than less often. 

Chemical Levels and Water Balancing

The measurable levels of chemical balances in your pool, is one of the major factors to the health of not only the water for swimming in, but it is also critically important for equipment warranties to be honoured. When chlorine and acidity/alkalinity exceed recommended levels, the following problems can occur:

• Itchy eyes
• Itchy skin / rash
• Green pool or slimy walls
• Bleaching of clothes, toys and equipment
• Damage to equipment and voided warranties

What is pH and Why is it Critically Important to Swimming Pool Health?

The recommended levels for your pool water are:

 

Pump Maintenance

Water turns green quickly when it stops flowing. Look at a puddle, a pond, a running steam or the turbulent ocean. The better the movement the healthier the water. You pump needs to rotate the entire contents of your pool water twice a day during summer. To ensure this is possible, check your pump is flowing properly and the basket if free from debris, such as leaves that may have found their way past your skimmer basket.

 

Filter Cleaning and Maintenance - Cartridge (Ci Filters)

Filters do a great job of filtering out finer particles like dust, skin, body fats and oils.

There are numerous factors that determine how often your cartridge filter should be cleaned. Typically every 3 months should be enough, however it may be as often as every single month.

The cartridge will also ware out and clog up over time, so replacing it every 1 or 2 years is important to having an effective filter.

Filter Cleaning and Maintenance - Media (Mi Filters)

As you can imagine, keeping your filter clean and healthy is critical to clean and healthy water.

1. Run a backwash every 1-2 weeks. Watch your pressure gauge and you will know when to do this.

2. For multiple reasons we recommend using only glass. However if you are running sand, replace the sand every 5 years. If you are running glass, replace the glass every 7-10 years. 

 

Chlorinator Maintenance

A clean cell produces chlorine, a cell caked with calcium does not.

If you see a white build-up on the metal blades in your chlorinator, you will need to clean that off without, scratching the surface. Follow our helpful guide here:

Your cell will need to replaced probably probably after about 5 years. This is heavily dependant on so many factors (it can be as short as 3 or as long as 7-10) but if your chlorinator cell is no longer producing chlorine, it will need to be replaced.

Probe Maintenance - Vi and Ri Chlorinator Automation

If you were smart enough to invest in your pool equipment up-front, to reduce the daily and weekly maintenance tasks involved in pool ownership, then keeping your probes functioning properly is critical to this working correctly.

If your readings seem to be off, cleaning the probes may help. Getting an independent test to determine your levels may help identify the accuracy of results. If reading are off, sometimes its as simple as hair caught on the probe receptor.

Replacing both pH and ORP Probes every 2 years will help to ensure the proper operation of your automation equipment. Meaning correct pH and Chlorine levels in your swimming pool water.

UV Maintenance

 This is probably the easiest of all your products to maintain. 

Over time the inner glass tube will slowly ware and become frosty. Eventually this will impact the light enough to reduce its effectiveness. The speed of your water flow and the amount of particles in your water will determine how long this is. Keeping your variable speed pump on low and your filter clean will both directly increase it's longevity.

If the globe dies, simply replace it. The UV globe is rated for 30,000 hours, meaning at 15 hours per day that should last 2000 days (5 years).

O-Rings

O-rings ware out from time to time. They may become stiff, get damaged or change shape. Some times they will look fine but just no longer do their job properly, and it's time to replace them.

WEEKLY
CHEMISTRY	Check your water chemistry weekly, if not more often. Remote monitoring is the easiest way to do this.
BACKWASH	If you have a sand/glass media filter, you should be performing a backwash every week.
CLEAN BASKETS	Check and empty all baskets. If you get excessive amounts of leaves and debris, this may need to be done sooner.
EVERY 2-3 MONTHS
CLEAN FILTER CARTRIDGE ELEMENTS	Remove and wash your cartridge filters at least every 3 months. More often if they start to get clogged and build up pressure. *When cleaning, always check for ware as they may need replacing.
AFTER FIRST 6 MONTHS
CARTRIDGE FILTER ELEMENTS	Replace after first 6 months. Especially important if building works, landscaping, or renovations have been carried out nearby. This protects your pool equipment and warranties.
EVERY 1 YEAR
ACID MAINTENANCE KIT	The acid maintenance kit should be replaced every single year to avoid leakage. Any acid leaking in to the Peristaltic acid feed pump will cause catastrophic damage, increasing repair costs.
EVERY 1-2 YEARS
CARTRIDGE FILTER ELEMENTS	Replace every 1-2 years depending on usage/condition. Keeping a spare element to swap in when it’s time for cleaning is a great idea.
